Able To Accept

My name is Kay and I am an alcoholic. I would like to tell you what has been happening with me lately. In July, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I knew before they told me - you know how sometimes you get that feeling. Thank God for Alcoholics Anonymous and the Programme of Recovery. Because of both I was able to accept my illness and go to hospital for my operation. At the moment, I am going to the Beatson for treatment every day.
I am writing to express my gratitude to all my friends who supported me through my illness and helped to keep our group open. The people that God has put in my path are unbelievable! Someone in the Fellowship told me about the Cancer Care Trust, and it was a Godsend. Since going for my treatment I have met a lot of people in the Fellowship and outside it who give up their own free time to help others.
I cannot thank my wee Daddy enough for always being there for me as well. I thank God that I am in this wonderful Fellowship. I have learned to accept things as they are meant to be, and I am able to live with cancer one day at a time. I would also like to thank Roundabout for all their hard work and for giving me a few meetings when I could not get to any.

Kay (A grateful member)
